Food wholesaler uses LED technology to address customers
Orient Marketing service, founded by Ayhan Bakan, has been shaping the Austrian import market since 1984. The family business has grown from a 30m² store into one of the largest Turkish food wholesalers in Europe. Today, Orient supplies restaurants and companies as well as individuals with an extensive range of food and household items from its 3,800 m² cash-and-carry wholesale store in Vienna-Liesing, which opened in October 2023.

LED technology for the new salesrooms

The family-run company opted for a large-scale LED installation for its new salesrooms to prominently display both self- and product promotion. A 21 m² LED wall and a 43 m² LED ticker above the entrance and checkout area as well as a 350° clad column equipped with LED hardware from the Turkish supplier Ledeca were used.

Thanks to the user interface from the Austrian software developer easescreen, the content for the LED ticker with a width of over 16,000 pixels can be presented in razor-sharp detail using drag-and-drop. The high-resolution content is supplied by three controllers from Novastar and three digital signage players from digital signage specialist Giada.

Giada D612: Powerful player in a compact format

"We selected the digital signage players from Giada for the project at Orient because they are durable and very stable in operation, as well as offering excellent value for money. They also enable Windows-based use," says Gerhard Pichler from Pichler Medientechnik, who was responsible for the project. The hardware used was supplied by the Munich-based value-added distributor Concept International, which distributes Giada PCs for German-speaking countries and has been a reliable partner for Pichler Medientechnik for many years.

The 26 millimetre flat Giada D612 digital signage player in compact booksize format impresses with its features, which allow the most sophisticated digital experiences to be implemented brilliantly and smoothly. These include Intel's powerful 12th generation processors and the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics processor (in the Core i5 version), which can support up to four 4K displays (4096 x 2304 @60Hz) via four HDMI 2.0 ports. Other features include TPM 2.0 and Intel vPro (for the Core i5 variant) for more stability and more efficient use of resources thanks to integrated performance, data security and management functions. The D612 is also compatible with the 5G mobile network.

Food wholesaler Orient's verdict on the digital signage system for its new cash-and-carry store is positive all round:

"We are delighted with the new installation and are seeing a lot of positive feedback from customers," concludes Enes Bakan, project manager at Orient.
